As part of LSO Futures, the Chorus will be taking part in a Barbican concert, but they will be performing in the foyers of the Barbican Arts Centre at the beginning of the evening while members of the audience are taking their seats in the hall The work will be the UK premiere of David Lang’s Public Domain conducted by our own music director, Simon Halsey. This work is supported by the Aaron Copland Fund for Music.
It will prove to be an intriguing beginning to a fascinating evening of music-making as it is followed by Philippe Manour’s Ring, which is written for “spatialised” orchestra and extended percussion, with LSO musicians scattered throughout the concert hall.
The evening finishes in spectacular form, when the main concert’s conductor, Francois-Xavier Roth leads the orchestra in a performance of Scriabin’s Symphony No. 4, “The Poem of Ecstasy”.
