This programme is a highlight of the London Symphony Chorus’s year, in which Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic complete their 2018 residency at the Barbican, and with two pieces that are full of promise and expectation. It is a particular pleasure for the chorus to be able to repeat the concert at the Philharmonie in Paris
Once again the concert opens with Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms”. This work has been described as both affirmative and serene, as well as a joy to perform. Another Ode to Joy, the evening concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, a glorious finale the orchestra’s residency at the Barbican and a wonderful occasion to celebrate in Paris.
