2008/09 Season Plans

The LSC's current season is drawing to a spectacular finale with performances of Mahler's Symphony No. 8 at St. Paul's Cathedral with the LSO under Valery Gergiev, and the PROMS performance of Janacek's Glagolitic Mass with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Pierre Boulez.

Plans have just been announced for the 2009/09 season and they include some very special events, including Walton's Belshazzar's Feast conducted by Sir Colin Davis.  Sir Colin will also be conducting two performances of Berlioz's Te Deum and the Verdi Requiem.

The Verdi Requiem is the featured work in the LSC's tour to Denver in October, which will on this occasion be conducted by Maestro Lawrence Golan with the Lamont Symphony Orchestra.  European tours are also in the pipeline for the forthcoming season.

Valery Gergiev, principal conductor of the LSO, will be conducting Act 3 of Wagner's Parsifal at the Barbican with the LSO and under Michael Tilson Thomas, the Chorus will take part in Villa- Lobos's Choros No. 10.

Continuing Richard Hickox's journey through the works of Vaughan Williams, the LSC will be taking part in a performance of Dona Nobis Pacem with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall.  The other concert with Richard Hickox in this season will be Arthur Bliss's rarely heard choral work Morning Heroes.
